Measurement in Maths

Rina’s Maths learning Story
The Maths problem:
Clayton thought that this shape would make an interesting garden.  What is the perimeter of this
garden? What is the area?

The story of the Maths problem: (use your own words)
Clayton thinks that this shape could make an interesting garden.

What we were trying to find out:
We are trying to find out the perimeter and the area.

How we solved the problem:
First i’ll add these all together 5m+7m=12m,12m+6m+6m=24m,24m+4m+4m=32m,
32m+12m=44m.
Then I’ll do the area by using my times' tables 4 times 12=
12,24,36,48 24+12=36,36+12=48. So the big rectangle area is 48 square meters and now
I’m going to try and figure out the area for the small rectangle with my timetables again 5
times 6=30   5,10,15,20,25,30. So the total area is 30
                                 1 2 3 4 5 6

Working as a group is important:
I am good at sharing my ideas because I get some ideas from other people and add it to
mine and share it.
I am getting better at my timetables because I almost know all of them up to 100.
